This week’s “Writers Wednesday” selection is John Sandford’s TOXIC PREY. Sandford has been around for some time now but his books are always exciting and humorous, TOXIC PREY is one of his best in a while. It is a “Lucas and Letty Davenport” story and this combination of characters provides for a winning adventure.
Letty is Lucas Davenport’s adopted daughter and they are both involved in police work. This is the first time they have worked on a case together but circumstances make this a unique case that requires both their specialized talents. A group of radical environmentalists have decided the planet is being destroyed. To remedy this they determine a large segment of the world’s population has to go. They plan to make this happen by developing and releasing a virus that will infect and kill millions of people.
Once information is discovered about this plot Letty and Lucas are assigned to the case. Then it is a race against time. This tense story holds the reader’s attention throughout the book. Plus the humor in Lucas’ asides and quips make this one of Sandford’s best ever.
Make sure you don’t miss out in this solidly entertaining book from John Sandford. For lovers of thrillers it is a must read.
